JP is of Tamaoho, Wairere, Whawhaakia, Hikairo Waikato Tainui descent.

Warahi (Wallace) has spent over 40 years in Tamaki Makaurau within a myriad of community development roles seated mainly in West Auckland, 16 years operating as a former Waitakere City Council staff member.  He recently left Te Puna Wananga as its inaugural Marae Manager Tutahi Tonu resigning in 2015 to spend quality time with whanau and advancing a new meeting house at his home Marae Mangatangi.

He has played a pivotal role in the Tamaki Collective Treaty Negotiations in Tāmaki Makaurau for Tamaoho as part of Waiohua Mana Whenua grouping. Currently Chairman of Mangatangi Marae Committee and also a Marae Trustee. He sits on community entities at home in Waikato and within Tāmaki Makaurau.
